The un-clench Release Tool — a sculpted white trigger-point tool for the jaw
Designed for the jaw

The Release Tool

£22

Fingers tire before a clenched masseter gives up. The Release Tool is shaped for the job — a sculpted edge for slow strokes along the jaw, a rounded point for trigger-point pressure, and a curve that fits the temple. Comes with guided video protocols so five minutes actually counts.

Who it's for

  • Anyone whose jaw massage never seems to reach the knot
  • Desk clenchers who want a two-minute release between meetings
  • Pairs with the Calming Jaw Balm for glide and warmth
  • Included in The Complete; sold here on its own

Un-clench is the only company that has dedicated its entire existence to jaw clenching and tooth grinding. Every hour of research, every product and every clinician we work with exists to do one thing: relieve the clench — using the latest clinical science, built to the standard of the leading experts we work with.

What's inside — and why.

The sweep edge

Long curved side

For slow, firm strokes from the jaw angle up toward the ear — the masseter's full length. Glides best over a thin layer of balm.

The point

Rounded tip

For static trigger-point pressure: find the tender spot, apply steady pressure for 20–30 seconds, breathe out, release. Repeat rather than force.

The temple curve

Broad concave face

Shaped to sit flat against the temporalis for light circular work — the temple wants pressure measured in grams, not force.

The material

Smooth, solid resin

Weighty enough to do the work for you, warm to the touch, and wipes clean. No coatings to wear, nothing to charge.

A manual massage tool. Use light-to-moderate pressure only; avoid the throat, broken skin and any area of acute pain. If you have TMJ dysfunction, jaw locking or unexplained facial pain, get assessed before self-massage — our assessment will route you appropriately.

How to use it.

01

Watch the three-minute protocol video first — direction and pressure matter more than effort.

02

Apply a thin layer of Calming Jaw Balm for glide, then sweep the long edge from jaw angle to ear, six slow strokes each side.

03

Find the tender points in the masseter with the rounded tip; hold steady pressure 20–30 seconds each, exhaling as you hold.

04

Finish with light circles at the temples using the curved face. Total: five minutes, once or twice a day.

Good questions.

How is this different from a gua sha stone?+
The shape. Generic gua sha tools are designed for the cheekbones and jawline as a beauty routine; this is sculpted for muscle work — the masseter's length, trigger-point pressure, and the flat of the temporalis. It's a massage tool that happens to be beautiful, not the reverse.
How hard should I press?+
Less than you think. Trigger-point work is steady, moderate pressure held while you breathe out — pain is a stop signal, not a progress bar. The videos demonstrate the right level.
How often should I use it?+
Once or twice daily during a flare of tension, a few times a week for maintenance. Five minutes done consistently beats twenty minutes done once.
Do I need the balm with it?+
No, but they're designed together — the balm gives the glide that makes the long strokes comfortable and adds warmth, which is why we bundle them in The Complete.
